About the Artist

As Journey’s frontman Steve Perry once crooned, his raspy voice filled with longing, “Just a small town girl, living in a lonely world, She took the midnight train going anywhere”. A simple yet poignant set of lyrics that sums up Christine Delay’s early life beautifully.

Born and raised in a small, isolated town in Northern Canada, Christine was not exposed to “fine art” when she was young. As a matter of fact, she didn’t experience a gallery or museum setting until she was completing her undergrad in art. Influences that seeped into her consciousness from an early age were plucked from pop culture, a vein of images, words, and sounds in which she continues to draw blood from to this day.

Currently living amongst the mountains and trees of Burnaby, BC, Christine is passionately dedicated to her full-time studio art practice which she started in 2021. She spends her spare time volunteering for local art institutions like the Shadbolt Center for the Arts, and the Outsider Art Festival. In 2023, she was the winner of the “Artist to Watch Award”, an award created by the Beaumont Studios to support exceptional, emerging talent. She is now a firm believer in the notion that it is never too late.

Hold on

Streetlights, people”
